Sara Pastoor, MD
Co-Director, Presence Health
Dr. Pastoor is an expert physician and healthcare executive with 20 years of experience in primary care innovation, patient-centered medical home, health system transformation, organizational change, population health, quality improvement, and health technology. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She spent the first 15 years of her career in the Army Medical Department, serving in various leadership roles supporting the Army Medicine transformation to a patient-centered system for health. Dr. Pastoor also has a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Health Administration.
Dr. Pastoor served as the inaugural Director for UT Health’s Primary Care Center in San Antonio, leading patient-centered transformation and primary care expansion in the academic setting. Following this, she served as Medical Director for an innovative primary care platform supporting H-E-B employees and dependents. Throughout her career, Dr. Pastoor has focused her passion on patient-centered care delivered by a multidisciplinary team informed by science-based methodologies and the latest research.
She currently serves as a Medical Director at Fortune 500 company 3M, where she is working to reform reimbursement in the health care industry from pay-for-volume to pay-for-value. Dr. Pastoor has a heart to serve, and frequently volunteers with Corazon Ministries at their homeless clinic in downtown San Antonio. She has travelled abroad on numerous medical mission trips, and volunteered for several non-profit efforts to help with the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, including volunteering for the Army’s call for retired medical personnel to assist in hospitals. She is a mother to two wonderful daughters, and surrogate mother and mentor to several other young women. She enjoys yoga, meditation and mindfulness practice, traveling, and service work.
