Jennifer Kirsten, LMSW
Clinical Social Work
Jennifer has experience with Ethos Wellness in Houston, including co-facilitating Psychodynamic process groups and groups that utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills. She believes in the importance of having a trauma-informed practice and is trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
Jennifer is passionate about the psychodynamic approach, believing that the therapeutic relationship itself can lead to effective outcomes. She sees therapy as a collaborative process, that is in large part about holding space and providing a container to explore. She guides clients with a curious mind to gain insight into feelings and root causes.
Jennifer is interested in integrating alternative, mind-body healing practices into traditional modalities and is a certified Reiki practitioner. She believes that by understanding self and simply being in our feelings, we move energy, which can lead to transformational healing.
She also has a strong interest in incorporating dream work into practice and has experience in utilizing the approach of the “Ullman Method” in dream circles. This form of psychoanalytic dream interpretation focuses on finding metaphorical meaning and honoring the messages from our subconscious.
Jennifer graduated in May 2024 with a Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from the University of Houston and recently moved to Austin to enjoy hikes and water. Jennifer is an artist and filmmaker and found her path eventually led to the healing arts.
